4 Reasons to Drink A Green Shakes for Weight Loss
Not everyone gets excited at the thought of drinking a green smoothie. There are many great reasons to reach for one of these drinks every day. If you are still on the fence about drinking your vegetables, here are 4 reasons you should make the jump towards green shakes for weight loss every day.
Get fresh produce in your diet
The average diet today consists of a lot of boxed and packaged foods. Even vegetables are more likely to come from a can than the garden. Drinking vegan smoothies, however, is an excellent way to get plenty of fresh foods in your diet. The fresher the food, the more nutritious it is.
A pure source of vitamins and minerals
How many people take vitamin pills each day to make up for what they lack? And of that, not everything in those pills will be absorbed into the body. Drinking breakfast smoothies for weight loss means you are getting everything your body needs, in a delicious drink rather than a large tablet. It’s the easy way to be healthy!
It’s a big word that we hear tossed around a lot today, but exactly are antioxidants? They are those special vitamins and minerals in food that helps eliminate the toxins that build up in our bodies.
Vitamins E and C, Beta-Carotene, Selenium, and more gather up the harmful toxins we absorb and helps filter them out our digestive track. And the best source of antioxidants? Fresh fruits and vegetables, of course!
Most people probably do not have a clue what the pH of their body is. Many probably do not even know how important it is. The problem is, eating meat raising the acid levels in your body significantly.
And higher acid levels leads to decreased health. Plants, especially rare plants, work to lower that acid level down to an acceptable range.

A person could starve to death eating celery. This is something my mother told me years ago. A person remembers a statement like that!
Apparently, she had read somewhere that it takes more calories to digest celery than celery contains. So, doing the math more out than in you get the picture. I don’t know if it is true or not but celery is an excellent veggie that is tasty and loaded with fiber.
My biggest objection of celery are the strings. However, blend it up into a smoothie and, voila, problem solved. Here’s another a great tip, don’t discard the leafy tops! Put the whole stalk in the blender for all the green goodness and celery benefits.
7: Apple Raspberry Celery Smoothie Recipe
- 2 Big Handfuls Spinach (about 2 cups)
- 1 Honeycrisp Apple (or another sweet apple)
- 2 Stalks Celery, organic (remember to use the leafy tops!)
- 1/2 Cucumber, washed with skin on if organic, if not organic peel it
- 1/2 c Water
- 3/4 c Frozen Raspberries, unsweetened, organic
Blend all together and enjoy.

The apple and raspberries taste through this smoothie. The raspberry gives the sweetness from the apple a slight tartness. Also, you are getting some great nutrients from the celery. Spinach as always is a mild taste winner.
8: Creamy Citrus Green Smoothie
Do you ever get tired of sweet smoothies? Adding fresh fruits do an excellent job of masking the green taste, but sometimes, I just want something that is not sweet but not so green either.
Here’s a great recipe I stumbled upon trying to make do with the produce I had on hand.

The avocado gives this smoothie a creamy taste while the lemon and mango bring out a tartness. It is an unusual combination that you’ll either appreciate or. will send you straight to the fruit drawer to get a banana or apple to add some sweetness back in.
9: Liquid Green Smoothie
We might just have a new favorite smoothie for breakfast. This is a great one for all you newbies out there. Very minimal green taste yet loaded with leafy greens, vitamins, antioxidants, and it just tastes like a great day!
I don’t know about you, but in the cold mornings, I’ve been craving warm drinks. So, even the greatest super green drinks have been seeing a little resistance.

The orange and mango combine to produce a tangy citrus flavor. I started with 2 stalks of kale but wound up adding a 3rd because there was small green taste. So, I thought, Why not add a few more goodies in?!
4 Tips For Success With a Green Smoothie Diet
Changing your diet to a green smoothie one can bring amazing health benefits, yet it is not always easy to do. For most, this is an entirely different way of eating than they are used to.
With that difference means a lot of adjustments. If you want to try a vegan smoothie diet, but fear it may be too hard, here are some simple tips that will help you succeed.
Take it slow.
You do not have to become a full-time smoothie drinker on your first day. Start with just one smoothie a day, then add more over the course of weeks. This can be frustrating for those looking for fast results, but studies repeatedly show that a slow weight loss plan works better in the long run.
Keep plenty of good snacks on hand.
It can be tempting to reach for the chocolate doughnut when you hit an afternoon slump, but that one temptation can undo all the hard work you’ve already done. Keep a supply of nuts, fresh fruits, vegetables, and low-fat snacks nearby when you feel temptation creeping in.
When it comes to green smoothies, there are no rules set in stone. Do not be afraid to mix things up to your liking. Go ahead and sprinkle cinnamon in your apple-pear smoothie, or add water to thin it out more. The important thing is that you enjoy your smoothie experience.
Don’t rely on just smoothies
Despite some claims; you cannot sit on the couch all day long and lose weight by drinking a smoothie now and then. You are going to have to put some effort into your weight and health goals. Along with drinking smoothies, regular exercise will do wonders for your body.
All of these green shakes for weight loss vary in portion sizes, so it’s up to you whether you want to make a large batch or just have a glass or two! Go on, try one or two as a refreshing drink or even include them as part of your weight loss diet plan.
